Ecuador

From 2011 to 2016, I lived in the uniquely beautiful country of Ecuador, more specifically in its largest city, Guayaquil. Guayaquil. Those five years shaped my life. They were five years full of experiences, stories, challenges, incredible people, and deep connections. Apart from the problems that exist in every country on earth, I was completely happy there.

At that time, I often said, “God willing, Ecuador will be the last stop in my life.”

But sometimes things turn out differently than planned. Today, I live in Germany again and have to find my feet both professionally and privately. However, Ecuador has remained a part of me, and much of what I do today is influenced by those years.

On this website, I present my life, my travels, my projects, and my view of the diverse cultures of our planet. At some point, I may also add a few short stories. I will let this site grow gradually, without having a fixed plan. Sometimes you just have to write to understand.

One thing is certain: a website is never finished.

It is constantly being updated, expanded, redesigned, or supplemented with images. So it’s always worth taking a look.

Ben Delarosa – self-taught and pragmatic

I have never believed that knowledge can be imparted exclusively through books or schools. Life itself has always been my greatest teacher. I learn by observing, questioning, experimenting, making mistakes, and starting over. I engage intensively with things until I truly understand them.

As a self-taught person, this means that I have to continue my education independently and on my own.

  • Learn freely and independently
  • Drawing knowledge from experience.
  • I don’t want to rely on traditional structures.
  • Understanding the world as an open learning space.

I am a pragmatist. That means:

  • Clarity instead of complexity.
  • Solutions that work.
  • The focus is on the essentials.
  • Act instead of thinking too long.

This interaction continues to shape my personality to this day, as it had a strong influence on my development and shaped my personality.

My time in Ecuador—five years that changed me.

When I talk about Ecuador, I am talking about my second home. This country has influenced me more than any other place in the world.

Ecuador is a country full of contrasts: jungle, coastline, mountains, indigenous traditions, and modern metropolises. Added to this is a zest for life that is difficult to put into words.

During my more than five years there, I learned:

The ability to remain calm and not be discouraged by setbacks.

The people there have an impressive ability to deal with challenges. Less hustle and bustle. More trust. They live more in the moment.

It’s about community and cohesion.

Family, friends, and neighbors—relationships are not a minor detail there, but form the core of everyday life.

Improvisation and creativity

Ecuadorians find solutions even when resources are scarce. This creativity has strengthened my pragmatism.

Nature as identity

Whether on the coast, in the Andes, or in the Amazon region, nature shapes people’s thinking. People do not live alongside nature, but with it.

Ecuador taught me what is truly important, namely that one should focus on people, time, respect, courage, and the ability to embrace new things.

What you won’t find here

This website is private—and that’s how it should stay. That’s why you’ll find the following here:

  • no stolen photos from the internet
  • no work by other people
  • no content that violates youth protection laws
  • no posts that violate the principle of equality of all people
  • No downloads or links that violate applicable law
  • no advertising or commercial references

I want to run an authentic and honest website. Without any profit motive and without any hidden interests. Simply a place that reflects my experiences.

And what am I looking for?

I am constantly on the lookout for interesting projects, whether online or offline. A brief profile of my previous activities will follow shortly.

If you have any tasks for me—whether short-term or long-term—please feel free to contact me using the contact form on this page.

I also enjoy email friendships from all over the world.

Through my travels, I have learned how valuable cultural exchange is, and I would like to pass on this experience.

My personal motto

Yes, I have one. And it has been with me for many years:

“Those who don’t question anything don’t check anything.”

This sentence doesn’t just describe my way of thinking. It’s part of my identity.

Where does the name “El Lobo” come from?

The name comes from a time when I was working hard to erase the traces of life from my face. It’s a nickname that has stuck with me because it reflects something of my inner attitude: I am independent, alert, and self-reliant.

By the way…

If you are considering emigrating to Ecuador, I certainly have some tips and advice for you. Just write to me. I know the country, its opportunities, its challenges, and its special features. I am happy to share this knowledge.
