class="wp-block-heading">Ecuador

From 2011 to 2016, I lived in the uniquely beautiful country of Ecuador, more specifically in its largest city, Guayaquil. Guayaquil. Those five years shaped my life. They were five years full of experiences, stories, challenges, incredible people, and deep connections. Apart from the problems that exist in every country on earth, I was completely happy there.

At that time, I often said, “God willing, Ecuador will be the last stop in my life.”

But sometimes things turn out differently than planned. Today, I live in Germany again and have to find my feet both professionally and privately. However, Ecuador has remained a part of me, and much of what I do today is influenced by those years.

On this website, I present my life, my travels, my projects, and my view of the diverse cultures of our planet. At some point, I may also add a few short stories. I will let this site grow gradually, without having a fixed plan. Sometimes you just have to write to understand.

One thing is certain: a website is never finished.

It is constantly being updated, expanded, redesigned, or supplemented with images. So it’s always worth taking a look.

Ben Delarosa – self-taught and pragmatic

I have never believed that knowledge can be imparted exclusively through books or schools. Life itself has always been my greatest teacher. I learn by observing, questioning, experimenting, making mistakes, and starting over. I engage intensively with things until I truly understand them.

As a self-taught person, this means that I have to continue my education independently and on my own.

Learn freely and independently

Drawing knowledge from experience.

I don’t want to rely on traditional structures.

Understanding the world as an open learning space.

I am a pragmatist. This country has influenced me more than any other place in the world.

Ecuador is a country full of contrasts: jungle, coastline, mountains, indigenous traditions, and modern metropolises. Added to this is a zest for life that is difficult to put into words.

During my more than five years there, I learned:

The ability to remain calm and not be discouraged by setbacks.

The people there have an impressive ability to deal with challenges. Less hustle and bustle. More trust. They live more in the moment.

It’s about community and cohesion.

Family, friends, and neighbors—relationships are not a minor detail there, but form the core of everyday life.

Improvisation and creativity

Ecuadorians find solutions even when resources are scarce. This creativity has strengthened my pragmatism.

Nature as identity

Whether on the coast, in the Andes, or in the Amazon region, nature shapes people’s thinking.
